Boggy Creek Farms web site. We are a small self-sustainable
family farm nestled in the rolling hills of NW North Carolina.
We are tucked up against the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains
and the rolling foothills. Our farm is located between Mt. Airy
and Pilot Mountain, North Carolina . We farm 18 acres where we
raise our livestock. Our Goats are a breed of goat that comes
from New Zealand, they are a meat goat that is well-adapted to
the heat and humidity of North Carolina. We decided on the Kiko
breed after a lot of research and decided on this breed for
their very low incidence of parasite problems, slow growing
hooves, and maternal instinct. Kiko mothers immediately clean
their young and care for them attentively, leading to very low
mortality rates. In addition, they have a remarkable ability to
conserve water in hot environments.
we raise our Kikos as breeding stock only, as we don’t process
or sell any meat, we are still concerned with where our goats go
and how they will be treated. Our philosophy of animal husbandry
is “We treat them as we want to be treated”. Boggy Creek Farms’
goats, chickens and cattle are all free ranging on large
well-managed pastures, “If they want to kid under a pine tree
then they can do it”. We are proud of letting the animals be who
